Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed in our Kansas City office as well as in each chapter. Please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Gracie Harrison, or call (816) 421-4949 if you are interested in donating your time to help this great cause.

Here is a list of some of the volunteer opportunities currently available:

SCL Volunteer Opportunities
Spring 2010

1. Data Entry – Maintaining our program database is crucial to our day-to-day operations whether working with current applicants or past alumni. Help us reconnect to faces of the past while becoming part of our future volunteer force! We are seeking individuals who can work a 2 – 4 hour shift during the normal workweek (M-F, 9 – 5) and would prefer to have volunteers commit to a recurring schedule.
a. Applicant data entry
b. Alumni data entry and research
c. Provider, donor and sponsor data entry

2. Online Research – These two projects require at least one day of training in our office, and the remaining work can be done online from home or our office. SCL staff will gladly train volunteers, establish a database for research findings, and assist volunteers whenever necessary during the process. Both positions have flexible schedules during the workweek, weeknights or weekends, as available.
a. Medicaid and SCHIP research for all US states.
b. Inkind contribution guidelines and contact information from a targeted list of corporations.

3. Administrative Assisting – Our small, but dedicated staff would love some support from a few talented individuals who can come into our office, during normal work hours (9 am to 5 pm, M-F) for a variety of diverse projects including:
a. Filing
b. Answering Phones
c. Mailings, both large and small

We are happy to make arrangements for those who prefer to volunteer episodically or require a more flexible schedule. Our staff is more than willing to work with volunteers scheduling. We can be here late on weekdays,
or open the office on Saturday!
