These photos can be taken by your child’s dentist or you. They must be clear and not blurry. Without photos, the applicant’s approval or denial cannot be determined. They do not have to be presented in the layout of the example shown but can be sent as individual photos. We have a tip sheet on how to take the photos as well.
Other helpful tips:
- It’s best to use a regular camera and not a smart phone. The pictures will most likely be of better, higher quality and will be easier to see.
- Try not to get too many fingers in the pictures. Remember, we want to see your teeth as clearly as possible!
- Do not hide the applicant’s eyes. (It is done in the example to protect the identity of the applicant.)
- Again, it is not neccessary for the photo’s to be placed on a single page (as they are in the example) but can be submitted individually.
Example:
The following items are the eight views needed as required in the application process:

1. Take a picture of the child from the side (profile)

2. Take a picture of the child looking straight ahead and not smiling, with the lips closed.

3. Take a picture of the child looking straight ahead and smiling, with the teeth showing.

4. Take a picture of the child’s upper mouth showing the roof of the mouth and all upper teeth.

5. Take a picture of the child’s lower mouth showing all lower teeth.

6. Take a picture of the child’s teeth closed together with the lips pulled back showing the upper and lower teeth on the right (left facing) side of the mouth.

7. Take a picture of the child’s teeth closed together with the lips pulled back showing the upper and lower teeth from the front.

8. Take a picture of the child’s teeth closed together, with the lips pulled back showing the upper and lower teeth on the left (right facing) side of the mouth.
