We’re all about creating success here at Smiles Change Lives. Earlier this year, Director of Provider Services, Alexis Barclay, told the SCL Operations team that they could “pie him in the face” if SCL met their mid-year goal.
The first half of 2014 wrapped up last week and SCL exceeded the goal for number of children beginning orthodontic treatment by 40! Thanks to generous providers, 520 children have been able to get braces so far this year through SCL.
This is a big deal for Smiles Change Lives, but it did put Alexis in a very messy situation.
Always a good sport, Alexis was eager to be “creamed” by the operations team of Brooke, Anna and Taylor in a busy downtown Kansas City courtyard. He was hit on all sides with whip cream pies.
“Our goal is to help over 1,000 children in the SCL program begin orthodontic treatment in 2014,” Alexis explains, “I’ll do whatever it takes.”
SCL promotes not only a means to improved oral health for the kids in our program, but often also an end to bullying they’ve experienced for the condition of their teeth. Kids emerge from treatment with brighter teeth and stronger self-esteem.
We look forward to more win-wins, which can only mean one thing for Alexis: bring a towel and a change of clothes next time!
