“SCL is a great organization that positively affects so many lives. The staff is so kind and welcoming. The volunteers are able to help SCL match more kids with orthodontists and spread more smiles, there’s nothing better than that!” – SCL volunteer Ann Hughes
Ann Hughes has been a member of the SCL volunteer force since April of this year, but we feel like we’ve known her for years! On the first day she arrived she brought with her a positive outlook on life and a passion for our mission. Ann puts her heart into any task at hand and we are very grateful for her for her donation of time supporting the SCL team in bracing kids for a better future!
“I graduated from Kansas State University in 2014 with a degree in music while completing all of my pre-requisites for dental school. I just finished my application for dental school and hope to start in 2016. I have worked in several roles in the dental office and hope to soon fill the role of the dentist,” shares Ann.
“I started volunteering at SCL to continue to help people through dentistry. It has been amazing to see the stories that SCL has made possible. Braces are what sparked my interest in dentistry, and I am excited to be able to help that opportunity reach more people.
When not working or volunteering, I play the oboe in many local ensembles including the Platte City and Atchison community bands. I’m always looking for an opportunity to play.”
